A low-poly game prototype which was my M.A. Project
- about the daily life and therapy of a young woman with PTSD
(Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder) aiming for awareness and understanding.

Idea-generation & original concepting was done in teamwork (1 more person), everything afterwards is my own work, like the designs, modelling, animating, programming
& voice-acting. (Music and SFX are open-source.)

Software: Clip Studio Paint, 3Ds Max, Unity 3D, Audition/Audacity
Gameplay Video
I most enjoyed the concept phase, the animating and setting up the final scenes.
The writing and voice-acting were also a lot of fun.
Concept Art
I had decided on a low-poly style and wanted to make the characters especially expressive (big eyes), while not being too cute, to be serious enough for the topic.
The environment was to be a bit messy & lived-in although simple.

Original Storyboard for Trauma Cutscene
Only parts of the cutscene were developed for the prototype (as illustrations with VO).
Example illustrations from the cutscene
Illustrating the cutscene, as a contrast to the 3D style, makes it feel like a picture book or an imprint of horror in Violet's mind, separating the present and past.

In-process I figured that an aquarelle-like texture style would give the project more unique visuals, fitting well with the emotionally hazy state of Violet's mind.
I happily discovered the shaders and post-processing possibilities for Unity,
because they enabled me to make the game look much more polished.
